The blockchain is one witness. It doesn't have to be the only one.
An independent trusted timestamp can take the same cryptographic fingerprint used by the mint and have a separate Time-Stamp Authority sign evidence that the fingerprint existed by a particular time.
The work itself doesn't need to be handed over. The witness can operate on its cryptographic hash.

Why it matters
When the AIN, Registry, blockchain anchor and independent timestamp all resolve to the same fingerprint, the evidence isn't merely repeated — it's independently corroborated.

Independent timestamp evidence supports proof-of-existence and integrity claims. It should not be described as proving authorship, copyright ownership, legal title, or legal notarization unless the selected service and applicable law specifically establish those claims.
